Cath TA 3 Small

I'm a L4 Pilates Therapist (Mat & Apparatus) and also a Pilates specialist and creator of many result-driven Pilates programmes and we are one of the area's longest-running Pilates schools (we started in 2001). I've taught health-related fitness since 1990!

As a result of following my programmes, clients experience a transformation of mind, body, and spirit and they surpass what they once believed was impossible and discover that they can achieve so much more than they ever imagined.

We specialise in rehabilitation of muscular-skeletal conditions, neurological conditions (stroke, multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease) as well as breast, bowel and prostate cancer recovery.

One of our greatest assets is that Cath has worked in a very busy  NHS Pain Management Service teaching Pilates, relaxation and sleep help.

In the beginning...

My fitness roots go all the way back to leg warmers and thong leotards!!

Swimming was my childhood sports background, and it was a natural fit that I found a fabulous vocation in helping others through exercise and fitness.

I've taught most classes in fitness, except martial-arts and line dancing!

STEP was my favourite group exercise class, though today I would probably need a resus-team next to me to keep me alive!

I've had a varied career: a 'jobbing' instructor going from venue to venue, with my trusty loudspeaker and headmic, to being Virgin Actives first Studio Co-Ordinator, looking after over 100 classes a week and 30+ instructors!  Phew that was a hard few years.

Then I trained in Pilates - which is the best decision I made to be able to help others.  It has lead me to some exciting opportunities and I get to meet and work with the most fabulous clients and co-workers.

Education has always been important to me; I want my students to know the 'whys' and 'so what' of Pilates, so I trained in Adult Education gaining a Level 4 PTTLS certificate and Level 3 Assessors award.  With these, I can now offer training courses such as Open Studio Training or working with accredited training providers as a course director.

What we do now...

My time is spent either in the studio - Your Pilates Space in Longridge teaching 1-2-1's and small group Pilates sessions, or in my educational and support role with Cherry Baker Education and Trained Academy.

Your Pilates Studio

We are very excited to have our own permanent base.  Its perfect for our specialist 121's and new classes.  We've taken our 30+ years of teaching and combined it with previous education (physical therapy, biomechanics, relaxation and sleep help) to create unique and very helpful courses.  If you're new to Pilates or would like our help, please book your FREE Discovery session.

Cherry Baker Education:

2018 marked my first year as a Presenter for Cherry Baker Education.  This is a role I NEVER thought would happen!  We have a very similar teaching style and a fantastic sense of humour.  I believe if you can make people laugh when they learn they remember more!

Trained Academy

This northern fitness and education training school provide level 2 and 3 courses across the fitness spectrum.

In 2017 I became a Support Tutor for 2 courses: Level 3 Pre and Post Natal Exercise, and L3 Exercise for the Older Adult.    I work closely with the tutors, the academic staff and of course the students.  I love this role!

In 2019 I was honoured to be asked to be a Course Director for L2 Award in Mental Health Awareness & First Aid, and also L3 Diploma in Teaching Pilates Matwork.  I only teach small groups, so everyone is assured personal attention throughout their course.

The future sees more exciting times with new courses to teach and lots of lovely students to help!
