Who are you?

DSCN0378I am a Clinical Pilates specialist and creator of many result-driven Pilates programmes and we are one of the area’s longest running Pilates schools (we started in 2001).  I’ve taught health-related fitness for over 30 years!

As a result of following my programmes clients experience a transformation of mind, body and spirit and they surpass what they once believed was impossible and discover that they can achieve so much more than they ever imagined.

We offer community based groups, studio-based courses and specialised programmes.

What is the concept of Experience Pilates?

In creating Experience Pilates we wanted to assist people in reducing pain, becoming less stressed and moving better. All programmes are designed to encourage you to take control and start living a life so that all aspects of your lives are balanced. Whatever your goal, and this is different for every individual, by following one of the programmes you will start to change your habits and change your mindset and you will recognise that your life in all its guises can be balanced and you have far more potential than you ever realised!

Who does Experience Pilates work best for?

All programmes are designed for people who have on-going aches and pains or might have a long-term health condition, and they are often stressed or have a stress related condition. Each programme is designed for people who want to help themselves and need the right Pilates moves to make that happen; they all have a different accent on achieving less pain, more movement and less stress.

What can I expect from a programme?

We are 100% committed to helping you reach your goal! It can be quite nervous starting a new course; a new anything, so here are a few things you can expect from Experience Pilates:

To begin with…

  • Information about Pilates and the benefits it can have have
  • A comprehensive health screening – so you get the most out of your class. If you have limitations in certain areas it is important that I know about them so you get the most benefit from your course
  • A current class timetable so you know exactly when all the sessions are running and sessions booked in advance if you have the 1-2-1 option
  • Lots of opportunities to ask me questions!

At Experience Pilates we appreciate that each person responds uniquely to a treatment programme and each individual will have a totally different version of how they would like move forward.

How are you different to other practitioners out there?

In developing Experience Pilates we noticed that we were the only practitioners who could combine a host of skills in one class. We look and treat your body differently from a traditional Pilates class – we have techniques that make your Pilates practice unique and your body will reap the rewards. It will be hard to recognise the ‘old you’!

Why should I work with you?

We are informal yet hardworking; you want the best from your body, and we want you to get the best from yourself. We have a few laughs, discussions and talk about a range of topics. We are not staid, repetitive or boring – every week is different (though we follow a theme), but despite the laughter and the banter, you WILL achieve your aims.

If you take a look at my story on the about page you’ll see how I got to be so passionate about what I do. Using what I have learnt from my own experience and from the intense learning I put myself through, I have now worked directly with over 1,000 people to pass on my expertise and see them advancing their own lives more than they ever could have on their own.

I am exceptionally passionate about what I do and I care deeply about the success of every single client I work with. I too seek out mentors in the areas of my life that I want to improve because I believe deeply in surrounding yourself with people who you know you can learn and benefit from. I personally invest in a business mentor, a sports masseuse and a Personal Trainer because I too, like you, want to advance my life. My mission from the very outset of meeting you is to make a huge difference to you and your life. I constantly research and upgrade everything I do so that YOU get the very best I can possibly give. I will never be just about writing a programme and telling you what you can and can’t eat, I want more than that for YOU because YOU deserve the very best!

What type of person do I need to be to make this work?

You need to be motivated and committed to changing your life. You need to be open to new ways of working and to embrace the challenges I set for you. You will be the sort of person who wants to achieve results but have a giggle too. Make no mistake – I do not trade jokes for moves – you do work hard, and laugh as well. My sessions are fun because we don’t take life seriously, but we do take your Pilates practice seriously.

The journey will no doubt be a mix of highs and lows and I will be with you to support you along the way but you must be willing to take the highs with the lows and to stay on track, it is this positive mindset that will guarantee your success.

I also need you to believe 100% in me. If you don’t think I am the right person for the job and are going into this half-heartedly then I want you to reconsider whether this is the right programme for you. Your success is dependent on whether you believe in my approach and my ability to get the very best from you. This has to be right for both of us which is why I am very select about who I will take on as a client.

I’ve tried lots of stuff before and nothing has worked. Does this really work?

Yes! The result of your consistent commitment to implementing the work of Experience Pilates means that you will transform your body.

The Experience Pilates programmes have worked for hundreds of people just like you already. Go to the Success Stories page to hear from them what their experience has been like and how it has benefitted them.

This WILL work if you truly want it too. I can give you exercises and techniques which are designed to move your body in the way it was meant to, and to also reduce your daily aches and pains. What separates those that get exceptional results from those who don’t is mindset! You have to be committed to do whatever it takes to get the results. If I recommend reading for 30 minutes a night and you can’t find the time, you have to ask yourself just how much you want this result. If you truly want what you say you do, you will find 30 minutes no matter what and you will. This programme works every time and I have lots of evidence to prove this but you have to believe that it will work and you have to be prepared to do whatever it takes. If you can do this, your life will never look the same again!

What results can I expect?

If you consistently commit to implementing the homework I set for each programme you can happily expect to:

How quickly can I expect results?

As a result of the techniques we use, everyone we see feels better on the very first session – everyone! As a general rule of thumb how quickly you attain the results depends entirely on much you give to the programme. The results can be rapid and it is my promise to you that if you follow my advice, I can reduce your pain, increase your movement and reduce your stress.

I find healthy and fit people intimidating and they don’t understand my problems

So do I! Seriously, they always look so fit and unapproachable! But we’re not, I promise you. I am probably one of the most approachable, easy going and friendliest people you could ever meet and if you’re not sure, just say “hi” if you see me! Once you get to know me I promise you that we’re not in the slightest bit intimidating.

I’m worried that it all sounds very formal and Pilates is a bit posh?

There is nothing formal or posh about working with me. It is no different to using any professional service to help you get the results you want. You wouldn’t think twice about going to the dentist when you need help with your teeth or going to for a pedicure for your feet before summer, so why is getting help with transforming your body any different?

Will I need to continue with you long term?

Many people find that regular Pilates sessions help manage their pain and discomfort. Others use it to get back to something they have loved in the past. We don’t mind if you want to move on – in fact I see that as a very positive step and we are thrilled to have been part of your recovery.

You stay with us for as long as you feel the benefit, or if you feel that you have progressed enough to move on.

You cost more than a regular exercise class. Can I justify the expense?

Firstly, congratulations on making the decision to transform your life. This important first step is 90% of the key to your future success.

You are right, it is a considerable investment for some people, and that’s because I demand that my clients invest in themselves, because they are worth it. This may be the only chance you get to spend the money on yourself that you truly deserve.

If I’m not sure I’m ready to start, do I have to pay for all the sessions up front?

If you’re not sure you’re ready to start then perhaps this is not the right time or the right programme for you. I do ask for full payment upfront as your full commitment to the course is paramount to your success. Payments are made prior to the course commencing. Don’t forget – we offer everyone new to Experience Pilates a FREE taster session – you just let me know when you are ready to try us out.

I’m not sure I have the time to commit to the time needed

We ask for just one hour a week with us in class, and about 1 hour’s practice each week. That could be 3 x 20 minute sessions. Every second you spend on yourself is time very well spent. We don’t give you anything that you will not need (either now or for the future). We understand you are very busy with work and life, and we do not wish to add to your workload. Setting time aside for the work is essential for you to get the results I guarantee. Once you start on the programme you will be amazed at how your practice starts to become part of your lifestyle and how it just slots in – like brushing your teeth or even going to work!

I’m in so much pain and discomfort – some days I can’t seem to move at all!

Due to the nature of pain and how it makes you feel, my clients are very often quite sedentary at the time of their first appointment, and every session and technique we show you will help ease your pain, so you get results with every session! Our programmes are not about being super fit, but having less pain, more movement and less stress. You won’t become the next Olympic athlete, but you will feel better about yourself and will be able to do more of what you enjoy. I have over 30 years of experience in training and nurturing people, so you can be confident that I will create the best programme for you with the widest possible choices available.

I am worried that I will be judged for how I have been in the past that I will make a complete prat of myself for being absolutely useless

I will never judge you, your story is your own and I am only interested in how we can move you forward from this point. I would rather you be completely honest with me as this is the only way I can help you break the barriers you have set for yourself. There is no such thing as absolutely useless, everyone has to start somewhere. All I will feel is absolute admiration that you have had the courage to make the decision most people don’t to make a better life for yourself! So many people don’t so their life will always be the same.

I’m worried that this won’t work for me

The first thing we need to do is change your mindset! There is no such thing as failure, we only produce results but it’s what we do with the results that count. Your journey will be up and down, sometimes you will get amazing results that will blow your mind and take you to the next level in your life. Other times, you will feel like you’ve failed but that is just an interpretation of the event. You will learn how to turn this around and use it to your own advantage. My mentor taught me a very important lesson which is BREAKDOWN to BREAKTHROUGH – every time you have a breakdown or a result you don’t like this is your big opportunity to learn from it and have a breakthrough which will take your life to the next level. Big breakthroughs very rarely come without a breakdown. My job is to coach you through the tougher times and ensure you have your big breakthrough!

My fear is that it will just be too much hard work and a lot to do

It may seem like hard work at first but anything really worth doing requires effort. Once you change your lifestyle and it starts becoming normal to you, it won’t feel like hard work, it’s just a change of perspective.
